At 7.30pm on Thursday 1st February Free Range, in association with Folkestone's Profound Sound festival, is proud to present Paddy Steer and the launch of Matthew Watkins' new book You Are Here.

PADDY STEER
On stage, Paddy Steer comes across as the errant offspring of a cosmic ménage à trois between Sun Ra, Moon Dog and Frank Sidebottom. Often dressed in an elaborate gold costume and occasionally sporting a huge head mask, Paddy adapts existing instruments and builds his own to create liberating, semi-improvised surreal synth-pop.

MATTHEW WATKINS
Matthew Watkins’ extraordinary new book, You Are Here: A Biography of a Moment, is an experimental local history book combining elements from graphic novels, conventional historical narrative and postmodern collage that span time-scales from billions of years of early Universe cosmology down to sub-millisecond neuroscience and quantum physics.

Matthew has worked with composer-improvisers Sean Williams and Will Glanfield, to prepare a performance that combines sound, mathematics, a custom-built synthesizer and readings from the book.
